Hawaiian Pot Roast recipe

Ingredients:

3 lb chuck roast, boneless.
3 tablespoons of shortening, melted.
1 medium onion, sliced.
½ cup of water.
¼ cup of soy sauce.
¼ teaspoon of ground ginger.
¼ teaspoon of ground black pepper.
8 oz of pineapple chunks in juice, undrained.
4 ½ oz of sliced mushrooms.
1/3 cup of sliced celery.

Preparation Instructions:

In a Dutch oven, brown the roast on all sides in the melted shortening. Drain off drippings.

Place the sliced onion on top of roast. Combine the water, soy sauce, ginger and black pepper; then pour over the roast.

Cover and bake at 250°F for 2 hours and 45 minutes or until tender.

Add the pineapple chunks, sliced mushrooms, and sliced celery; cover and bake for another 30 minutes.

Remove roast, pineapple, and vegetables to a warm platter.

Ladle pan drippings over roast.
